Serdang, 12 December 2022 – Pendeta Za'ba College is the first college to conduct fire drill training in the residential college at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for the 2022/2023 academic session. The fire drill was conducted on Thursday night, December 8, 2022. Many of the parties involved to carry out this fire training include the newly appointed ERT team. The appointed Emergency Response Team (ERT)   About 40 Emergency Response Team  (ERT) have been appointed comprising of college management, fellows, the College Representative Council and block representatives have been charged to carry out the fire training. This fire drill was only carried out in the P2 area of the Pendeta Za’ba College. There are several units created to launch this fire drill which is emergency equipment supply unit, food and beverage supply unit, medical triangle unit, first aid unit, documentation and records unit, evacuation unit and traffic control unit.

Monitor Officer from the Assistive Unit, UPM Occupational Safety and Health Management Office, Hasmi Bin Sulaiman attended the assessment of the fire drill. According to him,

" The Pendeta Za'ba College managed to conduct a fire drill that survived without having any injured victims other than the dummy injured victims. The KPI to get all the fire victims out of the burning building was for 5 minutes and this time was enough to prevent any casualties and KPZ managed to reach it. Emergency  team arrived in the P2 area which is in burning area nine minutes after receiving the call and an ambulance 10 minutes after the fire alarm sounds," he said.

However, there were some reprimands made by him especially about the safety of the blocks and rooms after all the fire victims for the fire drill went out of their rooms to the assemble points outside the building. Congratulatiuons to Pendeta Za’ba College cause of  successfully conducted a safe fire exercise and passed the targeted KPI. Congratulations to all people involved.
