Pendeta Za’ba College, Universiti Putra Malaysia, continues to take proactive steps in environmental conservation through the implementation of the ‘Smart Rain Project’, a rainwater harvesting initiative that forms part of the KPZ Green Sustainability Plan.
The project was officially launched on Friday, 30 May 2025, by the College Principal, YBrs. Dr. Mohd Hakiman Mansor, who expressed the college’s full commitment to supporting a sustainable campus agenda.
The main goals of the project are:
1. To collect rainwater and channel it into storage tanks for local use.
2. To reduce dependence on treated tap water by using harvested rainwater for activities such as landscape irrigation and cleaning.
3. To raise awareness and educate the college community on natural resource management and environmental sustainability.

The ‘Smart Rain’ project is a proactive step in strengthening the green culture within the university. With an efficient system in place, it not only saves costs and resources but also fosters environmental awareness among the KPZ community.
